Sheriff’s Office Hosts 4th Annual 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament

On June 8, 2013, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office hosted our 4th Annual 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament. Nearly 40 staff members participated in the tournament, which took place at Desert Hills High School. The Sheriff’s Office hosts many PT events, and this has certainly become one of our more enjoyable events. It was a great event not just for the players, but for everyone who attended, including a significant number of co-workers, friends and family (especially children) who came out to support our employees. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office would like to congratulate the champions of our 4th Annual 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament, the team of Ryan Borrowman, Cortney Cheesman and Joel Tucker! The tournament was extremely competitive, as many games came right down to the wire. In the end, the winning team had to play six games in about three hours to take home the championship! The tournament placed the following teams:

1st Place: “The Longshots” – Ryan Borrowman, Cortney Cheesman and Joel Tucker
2nd Place: “Samcro” – Kelly Raymer, Jake Schultz, Jay Strausser and Mackenzie Utter
3rd Place: “The Jail Blazers” – Joey Bean, Chris Duwel and Jesse Fitting

This year also saw the return of the Jackie Moon Award, which was voted on by those in attendance and went to the most “entertaining” player in the field. This year’s winner was Clint Aldred. Additionally, the Sheriff’s Office would like to extend a special thanks to Sergeant Trevor Benson, Training Coordinator Oscar Garcia and Sergeant Dan Wright for helping to coordinate and facilitate the event. Without their help, an event like this could never take place. We also would like to extend a very special thanks to the Desert Hills High School Principal Rusty Taylor and his staff, all of whom graciously prepared and allowed us to use the school’s facilities for this event.
