Sheriff’s Office hosts 7th Annual 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament

On August 6th, 2016, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office hosted our 7th Annual 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament. Nearly 40 staff members participated in the tournament, which took place at Dixie High School. The Sheriff’s Office hosts many PT events, and this has certainly become one of our more enjoyable events. It turned out to be a great event, not just for the players, but for everyone who attended! This included a significant number of co-workers, friends and family (especially children) who came out to support our employees.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office would like to congratulate the champions of our 7th Annual 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament: Kyle Bigelow, Cortney Cheesman, Brian Jensen and Jacob Paul! Once again, the tournament was extremely competitive, with many games going right down to the wire. In the end, the winning team had to play a total of six games in just four hours to take home the championship! The tournament placed the following teams:

1st Place:     “They’re Heating Up” (Kyle Bigelow, Cortney Cheesman, Brian Jensen and Jacob Paul)
2nd Place:     “Mind Over Height” (Dan Ritter, Forrest VanWest and Jace Wittwer)
3rd Place:     “Team Pikyavit” (Jeff Cheek, Simon Pikyavit and Omar Torres)

This year also saw the return of the coveted ‘Jackie Moon Award’, which was voted on by those in attendance and usually goes to the most “entertaining” player in the field. This year, the award was presented to Jeff Cheek, who certainly did his part in earning the award! In addition, there were two events held for the kids in attendance, and it was here where the real star of the show performed. Ten year old Tyler Bigelow started his day by dominating the 12 & Under WCSO Hot Shot Competition. Then, based on his strong performance in the Hot Shot, Tyler was asked to compete in the 15 & Under WCSO Shootout. Tyler made four straight baskets in the final seconds to pull out an exciting, narrow victory and took home the Shootout trophy as well!

As always, the Sheriff’s Office would like to thank all of those who helped to make this event possible. We would like to specifically extend our thanks the Administration, the Athletic Department and the Custodial Staff at Dixie High School for graciously allowing us to use their facilities for this event.
