Washington County Sheriff’s Office Honors Employee of the Quarter and Newly Certified Staff

On July 9th, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office honored Deputy Marc VanDam as our Employee of the Quarter for the second quarter of 2015 (April-June). During that time, Deputy VanDam did an outstanding job in his primary duties as a Housing Deputy and also in assisting Booking staff whenever he was needed. In addition, Deputy VanDam continued to excel in his many collateral duties, which include Classification, Disciplinary Hearing Officer, PT Administrator, Section Coordinator and SWAT. In his role as PT Administrator, Deputy VanDam organized and facilitated a successful physical fitness challenge for our employees. As part of the challenge, participants met with assigned PT Coordinators, created a fitness plan, set personal goals and then competed for prizes. Deputy VanDam’s most noteworthy achievement during the quarter was his performance as the primary Point of Contact for his Housing shift. He served in this role for several weeks while his sergeant was unavailable, and Deputy VanDam’s competency, enthusiasm and confidence were on full display during his time in this role. Please join us in congratulating Deputy VanDam and in recognizing him for his efforts.
During the same ceremony, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office also officially welcomed their newest certified deputies. Deputy Erick Baron, Deputy Robert Bentley, Deputy Melissa Combe, Deputy Graham Hancock, Deputy Robert McMurphy, Deputy Travis Percival, Deputy Simon Pikyavit and Deputy Teddy Umana recently completed the POST Academy and were certified as law enforcement officers in the State of Utah. They all accepted the oath of office and were sworn in during the ceremony by Sheriff Cory Pulsipher. We are extremely excited to welcome them to our law enforcement community.
