On November 9th inmates from Purgatory Correctional Facility planted over 20 rose bushes and trees, and installed a drip irrigation system at the Children’s Justice Center in St George. Six inmates overcame hard ground and rainy weather which made conditions challenging for the crew while installing the plants. Even though the task was relatively difficult, they succeeded in giving the roses the best chance to survive.

This is but one part of the Justice Center’s beautification process designed to make it more comforting for parents and children needing assistance from crimes against children. Sheriff Cory Pulsipher, Sheriff of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, donated the labor hours to have all of the plants and irrigation installed. Deputy S. Bailey was supervisor over this project seeing it to conclusion. We would like to thank the Washington City Home Depot for donating all of the rose bushes and trees for the project. Home Depot regularly donates out of season plants to the Sheriff’s Office to use on landscaping projects like this and in the Purgatory Correctional garden.
