On September 8, 2012 at 9:00 am, the Washington County Emergency Services Division will hold a preparedness expo which is free to the public. This year’s Expo will highlight what you can do to become better prepared for a disaster, offering information ranging from food storage on a budget to using social media community in an emergency. Information will be provided using both continuously running demonstrations and scheduled breakout sessions. This year’s keynote speaker is David Heaton of the Southwest Utah Health Department, who will be speaking on using “Warning Stones and Block Parties” to enhance preparedness.
From 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, demonstrations and classes will be offered on many topics, including solar cooking, alternative energy sources, CERT, and food storage. Learn about the Washington County School District’s plan for family reunification in the event of a catastrophic event. Experience the feel of an earthquake in a high tech demonstration. The Utah Emergency Animal Response Coalition will be on hand to help you prepare your indoor pets or livestock for an emergency and show you what you can do to contribute on community response. 2012-Expo-Schedule
